Business Quality Leader
What you will do:
Within the Silent-Aire business unit for Johnson Controls (JCI), you will develop and deploy quality strategies; aligned to both global standards, business unit and customer needs, ensuring world class quality performance that provides a competitive advantage for Johnson Controls (JCI).
You will lead efforts to build and sustain quality capability and capacity to deliver the short- and long-term business strategies and partner with executives and site leaders to install a high-talent quality organization to drive quality across design, supply chain, manufacturing and field installation - creating a ‘zero defects’ culture and enhancing Silent-Aire’s ability to win and grow.
You will also be fully accountable for creating an inclusive and positive organizational culture while developing a strong bench of leader talent and the pipeline below who will be diverse in representation, background/experience and thought and will be prepared to take on larger assignments.
You will be responsible for Silent-Aire’s Quality Management System and will continuously monitor/improve the system.
How you will do it:
Build a culture of systematic problem solving to continuously improve quality performance, driven by the Enterprise Quality Strategy and the Johnson Controls Manufacturing System (JCMS), across all levels of the organization.
Lead the quality excellence efforts to drive innovation, product development and manufacturing advancements within the PBU. Create and implement tools, standards and processes and drive alignment and consistency as needed across the Product businesses.
Ensure alignment and adoption of a standard Quality Operating System; in collaboration with Business and Enterprise Quality Leadership team, define and prioritize metrics, needs and investments.
Provide quality leadership and support for essential programs by participating in design reviews, ensure appropriate performance to meet expectations of the quality program deliverables, and have representation with the product teams and manufacturing teams.
In collaboration with the Business leaders, lead the talent agenda for quality across the division including job family definition, incentives, qualifications, career path, standards, training, and development programs, KPIs.
Fully support the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to install strong quality performance across design, supply chain and manufacturing.
Work closely with the business leaders in sales and engineering to ensure we understand and continuously exceed customer expectations.
Interface with customers for resolution of any problems with finished goods, including ownership of in-process or final product acceptance documents.
Acts as the key contact with customers' auditors and takes responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
Partner with Procurement to establish and maintain quality requirements for external suppliers. Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation, this includes adjudication of vendor claims for recovery of monies that result from vendor-related quality problems.
What we look for:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Operations Management.
10 years experience in operations and quality leadership roles.
Proven track record in building strong quality organizations across a multi-site, international environment.
Strong verbal and written communicator with ability to create vision and successfully deploy a quality system across all levels of the organization.
A leader that motivates and engages people, from the shop floor to senior leadership.
Ability to advance the APQP process, providing coaching and leadership to all levels of the organization.
Extended Quality tool, system, and problem-solving experience: 8D, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, Lean, Poke Yoke, Control Plans, Standard Work, Statistical Control methods, Gauge R&R/MSA, etc.
Travel 25% of time.
This position is 100% in office, no remote or hybrid work is possible.
ISO 9001 lead auditor certification required.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) required, Minitab or similar statistical analysis software preferred.
Preferred
MS in engineering and/or operations management or MBA.
ASQ CQM certification.
Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
