The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor / IQP Alarms to join our Bay of Plenty team. This is a key role where you’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, compliant, and commercially sound surveying, testing, and inspection outcomes across a variety of fire protection systems. What You Will Do
Carry out regular testing of automatic and manual fire alarms, sprinkler systems, diesel and electric fire pumps, including fault finding and repairs on existing and new systems in accordance with New Zealand standards
Undertake annual surveys:
Fire alarm systems (NZS 4512)
Emergency lighting systems (AS/NZS 2293)
Passive fire features in accordance with the NZ Building Code
Work independently and collaboratively with associated trades to ensure thorough completion of all tasks
Liaise with clients to explain system condition and obtain approval for repairs
Maintain accurate daily documentation for management and clients
Ensure accurate and punctual recording of labour and materials
Order and collect required materials and equipment
Identify and report variations between quoted and actual costs
Maintain and grow product knowledge of fire alarm systems
Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster as required
Manage testing and surveyor scheduling
Participate in internal and external training to stay current with industry developments
Contribute ideas and technical knowledge to improve department operations
Maintain and clean the company-issued vehicle
Identify opportunities to generate additional business and expand the client base
Support other technical teams when required
Undertake any other duties within your skill set as requested by the Supervisor
What We’re Looking For
Strong knowledge of fire protection industry practices, standards, and regulations
Firetech qualifications (Level 3) or ability to obtain
Excellent communication and computer literacy skills
Strong record-keeping and report-writing abilities
High level of customer service experience
Ability to manage testing and surveyor scheduling
