We are looking for a Senior Labor Relations Manager.

    What will you do? 

    Design, carry out, and oversee the labor relations strategy for Johnson Controls' manufacturing plants in Mexico. Ensure compliance with current labor laws, proper negotiation and management of collective agreements, resolution of labor conflicts, prevention of work stoppages, and continuous improvement of the work environment and productivity in manufacturing operations.

    How will you do it? 

    • Develop and implement the labor relations strategy for all manufacturing plants in Mexico, aligned with the global HR strategy and operational goals.  

    • Manage relationships with unions and/or worker committees, negotiate and administer Collective Labor Agreements (CLA) and work agreements, aiming for fair and sustainable conditions for the company and its employees.  

    • Identify labor and labor relations risks; design mitigation plans and initiatives to improve workplace climate, ensuring safety, ethics, and regulatory compliance.  

    • Manage disciplinary processes, complaints, and labor conflict resolutions, acting as the point of contact between Human Resources and Legal regarding mediations, arbitration, and labor litigation when needed; ensure timely responses and proper documentation.

    • Coordinate with EHS (Safety and Occupational Health), Legal, Production, and Quality to align HR practices with quality, safety, productivity, and regulatory compliance controls.

    • Lead labor process improvement projects (e.g., reducing turnover due to work-related causes, optimizing absenteeism, implementing fair work practices) linked to efficient manufacturing initiatives.

    • Develop HR policies, guidelines, and procedures, and ensure their implementation and compliance in all plants.

    • Oversee cost and budget management for the labor relations area, as well as evaluating the ROI of HR initiatives.

    What are we looking for?  

    • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

    • A master's degree in Labor Law, HR, or a related field is desirable.

    • 8+ years of progressive experience in labor relations, employee relations, human resources, or a related field.

    • Ideally with experience in negotiating collective labor agreements, managing labor conflicts, and regulatory compliance in Mexico.

    • Languages: Native or advanced Spanish; intermediate-advanced English for interaction with corporate team and foreign suppliers.

    • Strong knowledge of Mexican labor law (LFT, social security, INFONAVIT, health and safety regulations, labor procedures).

    • Experience in negotiating Collective Labor Agreements and managing relationships with unions/employee representatives.

    • Skill in conflict management, mediation, and labor dispute resolution.

    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement practices (Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.

    • Leadership and team management: talent development, resource allocation, coaching, and performance evaluation.  

    • Negotiation and diplomacy skills: handling multiple stakeholders (workers, unions, plant management, legal department).  

    • Strategic and operational thinking: ability to turn strategy into concrete and measurable action plans.

    • Willingness to travel between manufacturing plants in Mexico as needed.

    • Ability to work hours that allow handling conflict situations or plant visits outside regular shifts.

    • Work environment of a production plant, with exposure to noise, dust, and variable shifts depending on operations.
