What You Will Do
Participate as a key member of the Building Systems America project development team to achieve departmental and project goals on large-scale, complex, and high-risk projects focused on energy efficiency and decarbonization. Lead engineering, process, and financial tasks during preliminary and detailed development of sustainable energy projects. Perform high-level analysis on more complex technical and financial elements, focusing on bundled program scopes. Collaborate with the team to achieve business objectives by following the Solutions Playbook and best business practices methodology. Responsible for establishing ongoing partnerships with clients on assigned projects, preparing and delivering compelling technical presentations, and clearly communicating project goals, benefits, and outcomes to non-technical client stakeholders. This position may be based in our branch in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Alberta, or Delta, BC.
How You Will Do It
Provide technical, process, or financial support to the development team during the design process. Assist in developing the client’s business case for the conceptual solution as needed.
Lead preliminary data collection and modeling efforts for assigned opportunities. Lead or support detailed development of large projects. Validate assumptions made during solution design.
Establish detailed development budgets and scopes. Work with operations teams and external partners to develop project estimates, HVAC flow diagrams, RFPs, scopes of work, and preliminary and detailed energy and financial models (ROI/NPV) for assigned projects.
Assist in preparing proposals and other client communication documents.
Use specialized functional expertise as a key member of the development team. Possess strong technical skills in multiple functional areas, capable of assessing design risks and being responsible for all elements of large projects.
Understand the full range of JCI offerings and their applications in client solutions. Design alternative offerings to meet specific program requirements identified by the solution design specialist.
Lead cross-functional teams in developing multiple components of bundled sales.
Perform detailed technical or financial analyses to quantify cost savings or other benefits for the client. Assist with technical or financial calibration as needed. Lead development of client baselines.
Lead portions of C-level or economic client presentations as needed.
Represent the development team during operational reviews of large or technically complex programs. Provide risk analysis for the complete solution.
Responsible for creating and managing budgets, timelines, and quality for assigned opportunities.
Fully utilize JCI development processes and tools to perform tasks and mentor others.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors as well as mid-level technical and financial managers at facilities.
Responsible for staying up to date with relevant design or engineering standards and practices.
May provide post-contract design review support.
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
Over 5 years of experience in building systems design or sales, energy modeling, renewable energy systems, microgrids, construction, or facilities management.
Function-specific licenses or certifications preferred (e.g., Professional Engineer license for engineering roles, CEM, LEED, CMVP, CBCP, etc.)
Full proficiency in building systems analysis and evaluation, end-use energy analysis, energy modeling, distributed generation.
Ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, deliver results, focus on the customer, and act ethically.
Ability to communicate with non-technical clients and simplify complex concepts.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
Available to travel in the U.S. and Canada. Preference for bilingual French/English speakers.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90,000-$121,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
