Job Purpose
Responsible for reviewing IMO and marine classification regulations and conducting hands-on fire testing to ensure marine fire extinguishing systems meet international compliance and type approval requirements. This role focuses on regulatory-driven R&D, system testing, and certification support for marine fire protection products.
Key Responsibilities
Review IMO regulations and classification society rules (e.g. DNV, ABS, LR, KR) and assess impact on marine fire protection systems
Initiate product development or modification based on regulatory updates or customer requirements
Plan and execute fire performance tests for marine fire extinguishing systems
Perform hands-on testing activities, including system installation, piping setup, operation, and removal
Design and maintain manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD
Coordinate with external test facilities and manage type approval testing processes
Prepare technical documentation and test reports to support certification and compliance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in marine fire protection systems, fire safety, or industrial equipment R&D
Strong knowledge of IMO regulations, marine fire standards, and type approval processes
Hands-on experience in fire testing, fire-fighting performance evaluation, or test facility operation
Experience working with classification societies
Proficient in AutoCAD
Good command of English for technical documentation and communication
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience with PLC systems and electrical control logic
Knowledge of CFD / CAE or fluid analysis tools
Experience in industrial or marine system-level product development
USCG Approval Certification
