    What You Will Do
    The Construction Project Executive position is integral to our Building Solutions, North America division. In response to our expanding operations, we are introducing this role within our team. We seek a highly experienced Construction Project Executive to serve as the subject matter expert for larger, complex construction projects, spearheading and managing these initiatives effectively.
    Under broad guidance, this role oversees the comprehensive performance of Johnson Controls' extensive construction projects. The position entails organizing the development of programs, crafting management plans, and tracking progress against established benchmarks. It also involves identifying necessary actions to address deviations from the plan, adhering to Johnson Controls' standardized practices and protocols. The executive will advocate for Johnson Controls' interests to surpass customer satisfaction and ensure compliance with safety program requirements. This is a remote U.S.-based position that may require travel throughout the country as needed.

    How You Will Do It

    • Serve as the principal leader for the overall program and associated Project Delivery Teams.

    • Collaborate with Project Sponsors, Business Development, Project Development, and Project Delivery Teams to identify and achieve program goals.

    • Hold overall responsibility for the Project Management Plan.

    • Be proactive and vigilant, addressing business practices that result in negative outcomes (e.g., insufficient schedules, delayed buy-outs, submittal approvals, invoice approvals, workforce issues).

    • Manage risks and coordinate with Project Delivery Teams to formulate project recovery plans.

    • Guide the project team and evaluate training needs to nurture future project leaders.

    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of assigned projects through operational and financial systems.

    • Deliver presentations to Executive Management concerning current and projected performance.

    • Assess and review overarching subcontracting strategies.

    • Maintain relationships with key management figures of major subcontractors.

    • Oversee monthly performance assessments of strategic programs via the CM Project Enterprise System and report findings to management.

    • Exercise overall responsibility for scope management (planning, definition, verification, change control) processes.

    • Coordinate with Corporate and Regional Installation Managers to allocate resources effectively to meet program goals.

    • Manage overall program asset management, including collections, cost control, progress billings, and payables.

    • Ensure project documentation complies with contract specifications.

    • Actively seek and leverage opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen client relationships.


    What We Look For


    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

    • Expertise in Construction Management processes.

    • 15 to 20 years of direct Project Management/Construction Management experience in the Building Construction Industry.

    • Proven advanced skills in Construction/Project Management with the ability to oversee large projects, programs, and portfolios exceeding $50MM, including experience managing diverse simultaneous challenges across various disciplines.

    • A demonstrated history of managing complex projects within time constraints and budgetary limits.

    • Capability to oversee, coordinate, and supervise the construction process from concept to completion.

    • In-depth understanding of contract language and project accounting.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Exceptional presentation skills, able to engage large audiences effectively.

    • Able to lead and direct diverse teams successfully.

    • Familiarity with Federal and State procurement requirements is advantageous.

    • Possess interpersonal skills that foster collaboration with Owners, Architects, Engineers, and other stakeholders involved in the planning and design process.

    • Proficient with standard construction industry software, including Primavera P6, MS Project, and project reporting applications.

    • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.


    Preferred

    • Master's degree.

    • Professional registration is preferred.

    • Certification as a PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.

    • Certification as a CM Professional from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) or as a Professional Constructor from the American Institute of Constructors, along with professional recognition in selected industries, is desired.

    • Understanding of military chain of command structure and necessary interactions with elected and appointed government officials is a plus.

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000-150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
